100 Days of Climate Activism – Schools Chapter
The 100 Days of Climate Activism – Schools Chapter is a simple, hands-on programme that brings climate learning to life in schools. It is designed to help students understand climate change in a clear and relatable way, while giving them the chance to take action through creativity, teamwork, and leadership.
Over a guided 100-day period, learners explore climate topics through activities like debates, writing, art, research, and practical projects such as tree planting and waste management. The journey builds up to a school showcase where students present their ideas, solutions, and creative work.
The programme fits easily into school life. It can run through clubs, inter-house activities, or as a whole-school initiative, all under the guidance of a teacher or patron. Along the way, students build confidence, communication skills, and a sense of responsibility for their environment.
At its core, the Schools Chapter is about learning by doing. It helps schools raise environmentally aware, action-driven learners while strengthening co-curricular engagement and creating a positive impact both in school and in the wider community.
The project was first piloted at Our Lady Parents’ School in Luwero, where it was launched under the theme “Little Actions, Big Change.” The session was lively, creative, and fully student-driven. Learners took part in poetry, a climate-themed song, recycling art, and even a talk show where they acted as leaders discussing real environmental issues affecting their community.
Students spoke about challenges like poor waste management, loss of trees, and changing weather, and shared simple solutions they could start with. The confidence, creativity, and depth of understanding they showed proved just how powerful this approach can be.
The pilot was a strong success, with both learners and school leadership embracing the programme and its message. It showed that when given the space and guidance, young people are ready to lead the conversation and take action for the environment.
The 100 day Challenge
It all started with the 100 Days of Climate Activism Design Challenge. In both 2024 and 2025, Bujjadda showed up every single day from February to May, designing and sharing one artwork with a simple message that breaks down climate change and calls people to act. Day by day, the visuals made climate education easier to understand and harder to ignore.
